About last night would definitely be an appropriate hashtag for my IG posts of the Bad Boy Entertainment Family Reunion Tour that exploded on stage at the American Airlines Center last night with a star studded roaster such as Puff Daddy, Lil Kim, Mase, The LOX, Faith Evans, Mario Winans, 112, Carl Thomas, Total, and French Montana all performing in Dallas, TX. Sean “Diddy” Combs last night ensured there was no shortage of spectacle at the monumental collective of old school and new school artist.
All the stops were held for this history making concert and I was mesmerized by the incredible performances by artists that many in and outside of the business would say are over – the – hill. There is no question that Puffy aka the “Shiny Suit Man” knows how to entertain. Performances by the Lox, Faith Evans, Carl Thomas, Lil Kim, Mase and 112 and my all-time favorite girl group ever, Total, left the crowd, and yes there was no doubt a crowd exceeding the 10 thousand mark, roaring for more. Lil Kim was a beast on stage! Her costume was epic! Seeing Total perform on stage together after all these years took me back to the 90’s when music was about dancing, laughing and having a great time with friends and family.
The pyrotechnics were the perfect ignition to the hotness that was arguably the best reunion tour I have ever seen. But the best was yet to come when without warning… like a poised pit ready to attack… the man, the myth, the enigma DMX hit the stage with the energy and venom we’d expect from his early career. Fans were served with a pleasantly surprising and invigorating dose of the eclectic and soulful Bag Lady herself, Ms. Erykah Badu.
Puff Daddy released a press release that called this concert tour one that was 20 years in the making as well as a celebration of the Bad Boy lifestyle. He called it a moment in Hip Hop and R&B history. The bands involved in this concert have sold over 400 million albums and have 38 albums that have reached at least platinum status.
The Dallas concert will be the first of three shows in the Texas area, with the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour hitting Houston on Sept. 15 at the Toyota Center and San Antonio on Sept. 16 at AT&T Center. There are 24 cities total on the Puff Daddy tour, with the kickoff concerts at the Barclay’s Center also celebrating the birthday of the late Notorious B.I.G.
This is a must see show people. So, if you are fortunate to live in a city on this tour, I suggest you get your tickets NOW! It’s definitely worth the price and you won’t be sorry. I give this show an easy 5 mics.
