Dallas hip-hop radio station 97.9-FM The Beat’s annual Monster Energy Dub Custom Car Show and Concert is where exciting collections of classic and exotic cars with live performances by the hottest hip- hop artists, entertainers, and celebrities collide! Spectators from all over the DFW swarmed the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Sunday, September 17, 2017. The 97.9 The Beat Monster Energy Dub Custom Car Show and Concert is the staple for car enthusiasts who admire custom rides including luxury, exotic, classic, muscle, and low rider cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, and imports. Unique exterior paint jobs and custom features to innovative interiors, there were plenty of fantastic customizations to marvel at, some of the best tricked-out rides in the country were in the building! Check out some of the eye candy below.
This year’s concert line- up was crazy! Live performances from a few today’s biggest names in hip-hop: Migos (Atlanta’s superstar trio Quavo, Offset and Takeoff have dominated this year’s charts and pop culture in general as they transitioned from trap royalty to mainstream pop icons.), Cardi B (“Bodak Yellow” self-affirming anthem that’s sweeping across the country and is currently No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, creeping closer and closer to knocking Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” out of the No. 1 spot. Cardi B is expected to leave her mark in hip- hop history to be the 2nd female rapper since Lauren Hill 19 years ago to claim that No. 1 spot with no features.), Yo Gotti, Mike Jones, Dorrough, Lil Ronny, Trap Boy Freddy, Slim Thug, Zo- Ro to name drop a few!
The highlight of the evening for me was when all the Texas performers united on stage and performed a song they recorded as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Harvey titled “Texas 2gether”. The song features 14 artists, some of which weren’t present, but it was a powerful sight to see Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Dorrough, Big Tuck, Lil Ronny MF, Trap Boy Freddy, Yella Beezy and others standing side by side and performing the track, which is being sold as an online single. Make sure you purchase “Texas 2gether” on iTunes, 100% of proceeds from its sales benefit the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Thank you 9.79 The Beat Monster Energy Dub Custom Car Show and Concert for having me I had a blast! Can’t wait until next year!
